General
What are the minimum OS requirements for the Director app?
iOS 11
Android 6
How do I test the app with my existing account?
Once you launch the app you will be presented with two options, Get Started, and Sign In. If you are logging in with an existing account, you will want to select Sign In, or select Get Started if you are setting up a new hub.
Why can't I see (x) device?
The app will display devices that are not currently supported (with the exception of Nest and Sonos integrations). This includes devices that we plan to support. For details on what is going to be supported, visit https://www.insteon.com/support-knowledgebase/2023/03/1/device-support-updates-director-app
How do I use the new Sunrise/Sunset Offset Feature?
The Sunrise/Sunset Offset is done at a global level, rather than the individual schedules. To adjust your offset, navigate to the settings page, then select Sunrise/Sunset Offset and adjust the offset accordingly.
You can adjust the offsets for each by + or -

How do I add additional hubs to my account?
Previously only available to the iOS app, Android users now have the ability to add additional hubs to their account.
Please note that this is at an account level. Android users who previously had multiple hubs tied to different email addresses will need to delete the account tied to their additional hubs if they wish to use them as part of a multi-hub account.
You must be on site with the additional hub you are looking to add.
To add an additional hub to your account, navigate to the settings tab, then go to Current Home. Once there tap the + icon in the upper right and follow the on screen prompts.
Note that if you try to add a hub that already has an account tied to it, you will not be able to add it to the app without first deleting the associated account. If you do this, you will also need to reconfigure the new hub.
Do I have to use the new app or can I still use the old Insteon for Hub app?
While we recommend using the new app to take advantage of the additional features, you will still be able to use the older Insteon for Hub app if you prefer - so long as it continues to be available in the app stores. However, if you take advantage of the multi-house support in Android, you can no longer the old app once the second house is added.
Will there be any compatibility issue with the older version OS for the IOS and Android devices?
With the Director app's architecture, both Android and iOS share the same feature set. The exception is if we build anything that is specific to the OS such as widgets or 3D touch (for example).
Will the new app support X10 devices?
There are no plans to support X10 within the new app.
Can multiple users log in to the app from Android devices and iOS devices at once?
Yes, the new app will work the same as the current Insteon for Hub app will work. It supports multiple logins to the Hub as long as they are all logging in with the credentials that are associated with the Hub account.
This includes simultaneous logins from the old and new app if needed. Keep in mind that if a change is made from one mobile device (example: add/remove a device, scene, or schedule), the other mobile device may require you to close and re-open or log out and back into the app before those changes show up.
What happens if I have a Hub 2 and Hub 1 on the same account?
The new app only offers support for North American models of the Hub 2 (2245-222). If you have a Hub 1 on the same account, you will be able to access the Hub 2, but your Hub 1 will not be available. You would need to use the Insteon for Hub app to access that Hub.
Changes to Processes
How can I enable / disable push notifications?
Make sure you have the new version installed (old name "Insteon Lighting" new name "Insteon Director"). Then open the app to authorize push notifications. You will also need to do the same if you have the app installed on other mobile devices.
How do I create/adjust a schedule for a scene?
To schedule scenes, you'll need to go to the schedules page. From there you can select the existing schedule containing the scene or tap the + in the upper right to create a new schedule. When creating a new schedule, you will be presented with a list of your Scenes and Devices to add to the schedule.
How do I add/remove devices from my favorites?
You can add/remove devices from your favorites using the heart icon on the device's control page. For devices that do not have this page, such as sensors, we will also be adding the ability to add the device to favorites from the device details page.

Missing Features
What happened to Nest Thermostat support?
Google (who owns Nest) has discontinued support for third party integrations with their thermostat.
What happened to Sonos support?
We have decided not to pursue this integration in our next generation app due to low interest by our customers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.
Note that you will still be able to configure your Sonos integration within the old Insteon for Hub app.
Device Support
Will I still be able to use my first generation Insteon and Icon switches?
You will still be able to control the devices, and any scenes created for the devices will still operate, however you may not be able to edit their properties, add them to new scenes, or edit them within their existing scenes within the new app.
This will be specific to the device and the version of the Insteon Engine. Items from 2003 for example will be limited to control only, however some icon units from 2010 will be able to be added and configured within their scenes
You will still be able to add them to scenes and edit them via the old Insteon for Hub app.
For the most part, products manufactured in 2010 or later should work the same as they did in the previous app. Products prior to 2010 will most likely be limited to control only. You can locate the date code on the front of the switch on a sticker beside the revision number. Depending on when it was made, it will either be formatted as yymm or mmyy.
Why are you no longer supporting some of your older devices?
A few years ago, we took a long hard look at the products and services we were providing to our customers and came to the uncomfortable conclusion that we had over-extended ourselves – leaving customers less than satisfied. Since launching Insteon in 2005, we had attempted to be everything to everyone. This resulted in numerous software features and product lines that had us losing sight of our core competency: lighting and electric controls.
Why are my cameras no longer supported?
We began discontinuing our camera offerings a couple years ago after coming to terms that this was not our core competency. Others were already offering great solutions and at fantastically low price-points. Going forward we do not plan to support cameras in any future app, including the new Insteon Director app. You can still use them with our Insteon for Hub app that will continue to be available in Apple and Android app stores. Alternatively, we highly recommend a 3rd party app called OWLR for Foscam.
Why is my Lock Controller no longer supported?
We discontinued this product a few years ago due to low interest and therefore will not include support for it in our next generation app. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note that you will still be able configure the unit in the old app as long as the Insteon for Hub app remains installed.
Why is my Smoke Bridge no longer supported?
We have discontinued this product due to low interest and therefore will not include support for it in our next generation app. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note that you will still be able configure the unit, as well as receive any alerts previously set up in the old app as long as the Insteon for Hub app remains installed.
